Station Description: Burlington's new passenger station, located in the historic NCRR Company Shops Station at 101 North Main Street, opened to the public on July 18, 2003. The newly-renovated facility includes a 40-seat passenger waiting room staffed by NCDOT station attendants, ADA accessible restrooms, dedicated parking and a boarding platform with canopy.

Project Overview: North Carolina Railroad Company renovated the historic 1868 Engine House, which also contains office space leased by the City of Burlington and Whistlestop Exhibit in the lobby. The NCDOT Rail Division leases the waiting room and platform areas from NCRR. The building renovation cost was $3 million (NCRR). Upfit of the passenger waiting room by NCDOT cost $20,000.
