Station Description: A new colonial revival station has been constructed on property purchased by NCDOT and transferred to the City of Kannapolis. Half of the building includes a passenger waiting room with station attendant office. New Kannapolis City Council Chamber meeting room will occupies the other half of the building. It is conveniently located in the downtown Central Business District.

Project Overview: The new station construction began in November 2003 and was completed in December 2004. A new permanent platform was completed in 2003.

Financing: State T2001 funds (90%) and local match (10%). Project construction costs including railroad track realignments, right of way acquisition, traffic signal modifications, new platform and lighting, and new station building were $3,416,000.

Future Project: NCDOT's application for ARRA funding included a new canopy to shelter passengers and provide safer boardings. The estimated project cost is $300,000.
