Daily discounts are available...

  • AAA Motor Club members receive 15% off the lowest fare.
  • Children under 2 years old ride free when traveling with a paying adult.
  • Children ages 2-15 travel for half fare when accompanied by a paying adult.
  • Senior citizens ages 62 and older receive discounts of 15% off the lowest fare.
  • Active military receive discounts of 15% off the lowest fare. Veterans receive 15% discount with Veteran's Advantage card. Visit Amtrak's Veteran's Advantage page to learn more.
  • College students who are Student Advantage members receive 15% off Amtrak fares throughout the country.
  • Buy the NC Multirider ticket good for 10-rides between paired NC cities on Trains 73, 76, 79 & 80 and receive 15% discount. (more info below)

When buying your tickets remember...

  • Reservations are required on all passenger trains in North Carolina except for NC Multirider ticket holders.
  • Ticket agents will sell tickets up to 30 minutes before train departs if seats are still available.
  • Automated ticket kiosks will not sell ticket if train is full.
  • You must present a valid photo ID to board any train in North Carolina.
  • If you are checking baggage, arrive at the station one hour before train departure time.
  • If you have carry-on baggage, arrive at the station 30 minutes before departure time.
  • Seats are not pre-assigned. The conductor will assign your seat when you board the train.

Trains are considered on time if they arrive within 30 minutes
of their scheduled arrival time. We recommend checking train status
before you travel by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.
