NCDOT Permanently Closing Railroad Crossing in Marshville
RALEIGH The N.C. Department of Transportation will permanently close the High Road (State Road 1732) railroad crossing in Marshville on March 7. Signs alerting motorists of the closure have been posted at the crossing
The High Road crossing was identified for closure as part of an effort to reduce the number of redundant or unsafe rail/highway at-grade crossings throughout the state.
When possible, the department works with communities to close or consolidate dangerous or redundant crossings. Since 1993, NCDOT has closed more than 121 public at-grade rail crossings.
