RALEIGH The N.C. Department of Transportation has upgraded the crossing signals and added gates at the intersection of King Street (State Road 1300) and the CSX Transportation railroad tracks in Laurinburg.
The $172,432 project was paid for with 90 percent federal funds and 10 percent state funds from NCDOT. CSX and the state will split the cost to maintain the crossing. More than 25 freight trains travel through the crossing daily at speeds up to 49 miles per hour.
