NCDOT believes public involvement is a crucial element of any successful project. Working closely with local officials, members of the community and other stakeholders, creates a collaborative process in which the ideas and interests of each team member are heard and considered in final decisions. Since the inception of the Clayton Traffic Separation Study (TSS), and the subsequent development of the Clayton Grade Separation Project, NCDOT and the Town of Clayton have worked with the public to provide project information and receive feedback.

As the project has expanded from the initial pedestrian underpass proposal to a full pedestrian/vehicle underpass, the public involvement team has continued the outreach process — educating and listening. Because the team understands that this project will be built in your community, the commitment to public involvement will continue through the decision-making process with one goal in mind: Develop a project that enhances mobility for the entire community.
